I have one customer that is a funeral home and runs the pre-printed bulletin stock on a Panasonic DP-405. The bulletin is letter size and has an image only on one half of the one side, from Tray 1 (just like church stuff). My problem is that this stock is chemically reacting with the feed rollers and they will fail prematurely, say 15k. I don't expect them to go 240k like the PM cycle says, but generally anything over 120k is good for me. I also score them with a razor blade to give them more grip. We use Panasonic feed rollers, but you can see the color change from blueish/gray color to green. But it only happens to the feed rollers on the side that is touching the image. They only have 2 drawers and run white legal paper in tray 2. I am waiting for someone else to trade in a 3rd and 4th tray configuration just so I can give it to them.
My question is has anyone else experienced something like this or do they use non-OEM feed rollers with good results? Where from?
If I put new feed rollers in it takes off and runs right away.....for a while. Luckily the customer is a friend of mine and completely understands and has seen the color change in the rollers first hand....cause he's sitting there BS'ing with me while I change them out. He also knows certain stocks feed better than others. He's very patient but a little frustrated. The owner's wife orders the stock and she orders what she likes....
Thanks for any input.
