    DPC354 E3-79 Error

    Hi Guys,
I have a DP-C354 that is giving me a consistent E3-79 at power up.
It had been giving an E3-83 at first and that was when I found that the belt edge strip that has the reflectors had peeled away. The amount that peeled away allowed for the end on the strip to raise up about 1/2 inch. More than enough for it to make contact with the Initial Point Sensor.
I replaced the Transfer Belt and reinstalled the assembly. That was when I started to get the E3-79's.
I pulled out the assembly just to check if I got everything right, like the orientation of the reflectors. Did I put the belt in backwards and the such. But everything looks right.
After reinstalling the assembly again, I get the same result, constant E3-79's.
I tried going into F8 and doing the belt reset and length but with a hard error, everything is locked out.
So I was thinking that as the separated strip came around it would have had enough length to actually contact the sensor.
We had a DP-C322 in the shop and I found out that the sensors were compatible.
I ended the day with swapping the sensor and got the same result, constant E3-79's. After a couple of calls this morning I will be back on it.
My thought is this: As the machine is running there is a certain amount of charge on the belt. Then the strip separates but the machine keeps operating. The strip comes around and contacts the sensor. If the charge arced to the sensor, that would take out the sensor. Could that have also traveled all the way back to the system board and taken that out also?
As always, all suggestions greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Doug

Remove the rear cover and look at the EC pwb. At power up it should have 4 LED's lit. If you do not have all 4, you are probably looking at a bad EC pwb. You can check the sensor and belt motor in F4-304 service mode.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

Sorry for the delay but I wanted to gives this one time before I closed it out.
Indeed, the 3rd LED would turn off when the error occurred.
I began to troubleshoot what components were associated with that LED.
I rebooted twice. On the 3rd reboot, the machine came up to a Ready state and it has not faulted out again.
I learned it in Tech School 101.
      It's all FM :-D
