    DPC series question

I had a DPC405 call for light streak. Turns out the magnenta developer unit had a void area on the mag roller. Opened the unit and used a piece of paper to attempt to clean the doc blade. Only moved the problem a few mm. I have ordered dev and plan to go back, vaccum the dev unit, then replace developer.

My question: Is this something that happens frequently? The M developer count is only 106k. Or is this a rare occurance?

Only happened to me once, and it was because of some dev/toner crust (to damp....)

        Re: DPC series question

I have seen it couple times. What I do before replacing part is F8-09 M for magenta. This will do tone density control, which it will add toner into the dev unit. It fixed a lot of my machines by doing that, sometimes I do have to replace the developer (around 1 out of 10 machines). All DP-C series (rainbow 1, 2, 2.5, 6) machines' toner have 5% developer in it, so by doing F8-09 could fix the problem w/o replace all the developer.
