    DP-8035, 45, 60 Touch Screen Diagnosis

Over the past 5 years, I have come to know this machine as if it were one of my kin. Besides the horrible fuser design, disaster of a duplex, and horrific HDD, the touch panel is a constant issue. I have developed a sure fire way to diagnose a bad touch panel on this series.

Turn off the sub power switch on the left hand side. Hold down the function key and power the machine back on. Immediately press and hold down the energy saver key while still holding down the function key. The back light will flash briefly. A box will appear in the upper left corner. This is the start of the calibration. At this point, touch the box in the corner. If the machine beeps and the box does not move, turn off the sub power. If the panel is bad, the machine will become locked at this point and the rear main power switch needs to be reset to reboot the machine. This locked state is the "smoking gun" for a bad touch pad.

If the calibration square moves, it will move to the lower right corner, then center. After the center calibration point is touched, the machine boots up. If it calibrates and I still have issues, I will disassemble and clean it. If it locks like stated above, I just replace or order the part.

I hope this can help someone in the future.
