    Panasonic DP-C264 Add toner problem

    Hello everyone,

I have a 264 that keeps asking for black toner but the bottle is full. The customer can get the machine running again by taking the toner bottle out, shaking it, and then putting it back in. I've checked for any obstructions in the toner path and there aren't any. The toner hopper/motor has been replaced and so has the drum. So, the problem must be in developer? Also, how does the machine determine the percentage of toner left in the bottle? There doesn't seem to be any sensors to detect this percentage, so I'm just curious. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Try resetting the counter manually. FUNCTION, COUNTER VIEW; scroll to numbers 30-33. They are for clearing the 4 toner carts.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

I've never had to clear counters for toner before, but I'll give it a try.

      Thanks.

Hey User Name. I ran into this some time ago. I posted my problem and received 3 pages of posts. Take a look at it and i think this will help you. In my case, I aligned the gears on the dev unit and it solved my problem There is an attachment on one of the posts for this. I originally posted it 12-15-2011. Title was DPC354. Hope this helps. Let us know what fixed it.

They are designed to be auto resetting but sometimes they need a lil goose.

I checked out your thread. I vaguely remember reading over it before. I went back and checked the gears. These were alligned before but I checked them anyway and they're still fine. I decided to switch the TDC sensors of the cyan and black developer units. If the problem was with that, then it should move over to the cyan and then I'll know if that's the problem and I can replace it when confirmed. Other than that, I'm not sure what it could be. I'm not sure about the firmware, but I don't think that's the problem. Oh well, now I wait and see what happens.

            Thanks

Hi, I had a similar problem to this, I made sure the gears at the back were correct as per bulletin, firmware was up to date, the only thing that fixed the fault was re deving the black, it hasn`t come back in since, and it has been months.

                    Hope you get it sorted.

By "re deving" do you mean recalibrating the old developer or replacing it?

Update: This seems to have done the trick. I checked the error report and there hasn't been a U13-4 code since I've done the swap. However, there haven't been either U13-3 codes either but this customer does many more black copies than color copies so I'm not totally surprised by this.

                        Thanks again everyone!
