    DP-8060 J43's Duplex Only

    Hi Guys,
I have an interesting one to bounce off of you.
So I have an 8060 that is getting J43 jams.
So if I make a copy off the platen, it copies and shoots it straight out to the finisher.
If I make one off the ADF, it makes the copy, shoots through the fuser, down into the inverter, reverses and inverts, and out to the finisher.
Now if I make a duplex copy, it makes the first side, shoots it through the fuser, down into the inverter, reverses and enters the ADU, through the ADU and back into the xero mod for the second side, out through the fuser, down into the inverter, reverses and jams with the lead edge at the inverter exit rolls just before the exit sensor.
The inverter works just fine for simplex and the two sides of the duplex operation until it has to reverse. It will always jam with the lead edge at the inverter exit rolls.
    Any ideas? Anybody?

Just yesterday, I had an 8060 with J43 jams. Of course it worked fine for me. As I was leaving it had an J44 with no paper in the machine. I replaced the exit sensor and all seems good, at least for now. One thing I did was pulled the inverter and cleaned them with a piece of scotchbrite, not too hard, and them cleaned them with a solution. I have heard that the springs on the inverter roller bushings can become weak. Had one always popping of on the front side. Replaced them as a set and have not had the problem since.

The wierd thing is all is ok until you duplex. If it were me, I would try fresh or a different paper. Then maybe try another fuser unit. I know, I'm grasping at straws, but its all I can think of right now. Keep us posted.

I just left the machine I posted about above. The one where I replaced the exit sensor. Well it was not the exit sensor. I was about to go back to the shop and get an exit door assembly to try. By the way the fuser exit sensor, copier exit sensor, and exit door have been known to cause J43 jams. I powered the machine on so the customer could use it while I was going to get the door and BAAM. It hit me like a slap in the face. The bushings on the roller just after the gate were gummed up causing the roller to be very, very hard to turn. It actually locked up. To make sure you are looking at the right roller, it is item # 8210 on page 145 of the parts book. Now the sad part. I have had this happen once before and forgot all about it. Hope this helps. let us know what you find.

See the pictures below. Who ever designed this invertor/fuser should have their head examined.

We can close this one out.
A couple of weeks ago I decided that I was probably dealing with a static electricity problem since the paper would go past the mylars on the exit door. Also, this is a school and you know that they are only going to buy the cheapest paper they can find.
I cleaned both the black baffles below the fuser exit and the exit door guide with alcohol. I followed that with treating both sides with Rain-X and buffed it out. Then I used some of my Xerox Anti-Static fluid on both sides and buffed that out. I ran F8-07 and left.
I went back yesterday, after a two week run, and there were no J43's.
