    Scanning faxes is slow

I have a few C3 machines that scan faxes slow, scanning to file is fast, copy scanning is fast.

They all seem to slow down when scanning in faxes to send.

Have two customers complaining about the speed.

Is there anything I can do to set them up to scan in as fast as when it copies
    and scans to files?

setting is on std/text on them.

    Stumped, please help

Try setting the machine to fax in memory transmit mode. Not manual mode.

they are set to fax for memory xmt not manual.

That's where I am stumped, speed is great for scanning to file, making copies.

Seem to slow to half speed when scanning to memory on faxing.

You said it was a C3 machine. Does it have a model # ?

Not sure. I just tested my DPC 354 and speed was the same in all modes.

Do you have an SD card in the machine for extra memory?

Has to be something in the settings or memory is all I can come up with.

I've initialized the ram, gone into fax service mode done the same.

              Appreciate you trying to help

Do you have any machines that don't seem to slow down when faxing? If so, you could print out all of the settings from that machine and compare it to the ones that are slow. Seems like it would be a setting somewhere to me. Not sure, I've never run into this problem but that's how I'd go about looking for a solution.

                Good Luck

Wish I did have one in the field that wasn't doing that.

I want to place more of them as well, been very easy to work on and pretty reliable so far.

The one I do have placed and the ones in shop all are doing the same thing.

Tells me that somewhere I am missing something in the settings or maybe the firmware.

Don't have one that isn't doing it to compare the settings with.

Would one of you mind sending me the settings of one that is working right so I could compare?

I realize you mentioned that the fax mode is set to STD/TEXT. It sure sounds like it's scanning in full color.

Didn't think that in fax mode it could do color.

When using the scan mode, even in full color they scan pages in faster than the fax mode is scanning to memory.

                      This is driving me nutty.

I have 3 C3's in shop. All of them are doing the same thing.

Copy scan speeds are normal, scanning (even in full color) normal.

Fax, appears to be half speed .

Sure would like to come up with a solution so I can place another 2 machines with them.

Sorry, I don't have one in the shop with the fax option installed to check the scanning speed or to use as a comparison. A firmware update could only help.

FYI Update. Never did find out a solution for this.

Firmware updated, maxed fax mem and tried different orientation of paper thru feeder.

Firmware did speed it it slightly, but not the same as a regular scan.

Talked customer into scanning to email and desktop faxing it.

Gave them a faster solution for scan speed and a digitized copy of all faxes.

They like the solution and have not complained at all since the transition to
                            desktop faxing.
