*Not an error, just lack of knowledge concerning how the machine works*

Hi

I have another question about the DP-C354 Photocopier the non-profit organization I work for recieved (for free!)

I have not been trained to troubleshoot Photocopiers, I'm just in charge of the general problem solving for all things electronic (and minor maintenance)
as well as digital advertising, video and our website.

Basically I have the machine setup so that incoming faxes are not being automatically recieved and printed.
We get incoming faxes on a regular basis, and they are usually advertisements and other unneccessary messages. (spam)
We usually only send out faxes, but ocasionally, and with heads up notice, we do get an incoming Fax we want.
Which is why it isn't automatically accepting Faxes.
Anyway that part is working, we had an incoming Fax yesterday and the machine rang but did not pickup. Perfect.
BUT I had tried to pickup the Fax manually. Although I didn't actually want it, beyond wanting to know how to Manually accept a Fax.

On another Fax machine we had, the display would update if their was an incoming Fax and you could simply accept it. On this copier the display did not sem to indicate a Fax was coming in at all (Beyond the machine ringing)
I searched through menus in the brief time i had (after I realized a yes or no option was not going to appear) and I could not find anything that suggested what I wanted.

Does anyone here know what menu option/button I need to push to accept an incoming Fax?

I tried Google and searching through the manuals for this machine. I could not find anything useful for this.

I would appreciate any suggestions, even basic ones.

P.S. There will likely be a longer delay before I can report success, I can't think of anyone that would be willing to keep trying to send us a Fax simply to test the machine, so I will have to wait for another incoming one.

To receive faxes manually, I belive you will need a handset attached. Once the machine is set to receive manually and you have an incoming fax, the handset will ring. When you answer the handset you will hear beeps, press the start key on the copier and hang up the hand set. You can get a cheap handset from WalMart and plug it into the other jack next to where you have the fax line plugged in.

Another option ( if you are set up for scanning to email) you can have incoming faxes forwarded to an email address. These do not print out. In order to do this would be more involved than just doing the handset.

I didn't even consider that I might have to plug something else into the copier to accept a Fax.
I tried testing it out using the phones we have around here, but they didn't work. I suppose because these phones are more the kind that handles multiple lines etc.. they may be too complex.
I did however get success using the Headset we use for the main phone. (It's just a Headphone style headset, no dial pad, plugs into the main phone)
I phoned the Copier via one of our phones, the Copier rang, I activated the headset and pressed start. The Fax machine kicked in.
So it seems a simple phone is best. I'm hoping this will work:

(It's cheaper than another Headset, and more convenient, we don't need it to stray from the Copier)

I won't be able to test that phone for a little while though, our Manager is away on vacation, and she is responsible for all of our purchases.
So I can't even bring the subject up with her until Monday or Tuesday.

Until then I have manged to find the appropriate settings (which I didn't know existed until you mentioned it) to automatically send incoming Faxes to one of our Email accounts.
Since it relies on a diligent checking of email it's not as desirable, but it will work for now.
I tested this new setup using a free online Send a Fax over the internet website (Full of Ads, but it worked)

Once I get an appropriate Handset/Phone connected to the machine I think that will be the last of my setup questions.
Unless something that works now suddenly doesn't
