OK, heres the deal. I get J85 jams about every 25-30 duplexed copies, regaurdless of paper direction or tray used. Single side works ok, although I did see rgistration issue on 2 copies out of 100 ran from tray one. Replaced reg clutch. Anyway, I will be going back to do some more troubleshooting and thought I would throw this out there and see if anyone had any input. I was going to try the clutch in the duplex unit.

Does the paper that jams have a nick in it? Had the clear mylars buried down in there get burrs/creases on them.
Door been opened up to far and bent frame? Just a couple thoughts. -

Update------- Swapped out the aasy that has the automatic duplex unit sensor 4 on it and still no go. Once I realized the time it would take to troubleshoot part by part, I decided to swap out the entire duplex unit ( the assy that swings open on the right side). All is well now. One thing I did notice is that the drive system on this unit seemed harder to turn than the one I put on the machine. Will put it on a machine at the shop and see what the deal is. the problem lies with the turnaround unit , have had loads of them, take off the turn around unit , the duplex gate is worn, its not opening the turnaround gate quick enough, here are the parts you need

a quick fix is to melt the plastic where part 1304 sits into 1301 thats just gone too loose, just make it tighter, hope this makes sense from the parts manaul ????

Solution------ Brought the one from field machine back to the shop. Replaced the large metal guide plate ( item 1405 in parts book ) and mounted the duplex unit on the machine in the shop. Ran a duplexed teat of about 300-400. Tested fine. With the old metal guide plate, it was hard to turn the drive. I concluded the plate was warped.Comment
