I was at a customers hooking up a laptop to print to this machine and the customer mentioned that the fax forwarding had stopped working. I tried messing around with it for awhile but I can't figure out what changed. I had this happen before there and it was because they changed the password for their email account and didn't adjust the machine settings. I talked to the lady sitting closest to the machine and she called their "IT Guy" and he said it wasn't changed and when I asked what it was, she told me that he said he forgot and was going to change it to a new password, which he gave me. Wait, can you change the password without knowing the old one? Maybe that's not what he said. I should know better than to get answers through someone else. My brain was kinda fried by that time of the day so I wasn't thinking very clearly. Anyway, I changed it to this new password and it still wasn't able to forward the faxes to the email. I confirmed that this is the correct password by changing it in the previously mentioned lady's Outlook and it worked with that password. So, there are of couple of things I'm going to try that I should of on the first go when I go back to try and resolve this again.
Now I've only within the last year started to setup smtp and all that fun stuff and it's only been on the new Kyoceras that I've had any experience. So, I'm not very experienced with all of this and some of it still confuses me a little so if these next questions don't make sense, that's why. The Panasonics used port 25 for smtp, right? Can this be changed? I was told by my boss that it can't but I don't trust his memory. I guess this port is no longer the standard for this anymore and I use port 587 on all the Kyoceras that I setup. Sorry if this post is a mess and/or doesn't have enough info. I don't what I should be asking really so any tips about setting up / troubleshooting the smtp and email settings would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
