    DPC 406 error

I have a used machine that we just got in. Don't know the history. When I select status I get this message:

    Data Deletion Unsuccessful.

The F-9 report does not show that Data Security is installed. I have never seen this error before. Any ideas?

        A few more questions.....
-Is the machine functioning during copy and print?
-If the indicator light on the front edge of the op panel is on, what color is it?
-Test / remove the memory chips on the board ?(SC checklist in F9)
-Unplug the HDD, could be a failed HDD wipe?

It copies and does internal prints. Have not printed from PC. Just evaluating machine right now to see what is needed.

Got all oks on the test. No memory cards are on the board.
Unplugged the HDD. Still get the message

Service mode F9-06-03 will do a Shipment Set and revert all settings back to default. Could also try the HDD format General Settings, Key Op #34.

I got it. Under Function>General> 65 (Hard disk Initialize) there are two choices (Format and Deletion). Had to do the deletion.

I would love to do this on two lease return machines (DPC406 and DPC266), but am unfamiliar with accessing service mode on Panasonics.
Would you or someone else please elaborate on how to get these machines wiped clean of customer's info, but leave the machines operational?
                  Thank you in advance...Paul T
