    Pro5100 setup issue

    Hi everyone,

I am just trying to setup a pro5100 (without fiery) in our workshop and cannot get it to recognise the standard network card. I have run through the usual procedures and enabled the internal network card in SP mode, restarted machine and still doesnt show up under usertools.
    Any suggestions?

The 5100 comes with the network card already installed and enabled. Not sure what you mean by 'recognize the standard network card'. So if there is nothing to install, what 'usual' procedures are you referring to during unpacking and setup? What is not showing up in user tools?

We would love to help but you will have everyone guessing everything under the sun if you can't be specific in what the issue you are having is and what you have done to try and fix it.

The Pro C5100 DOES NOT support GW (on board) print. It does support network scan (and @remote) via the Ethernet connection. ALL Pro color MFD's from Ricoh use the Fiery exclusively. No way around it.

Since you are trying to setup the Pro 5100 without a fiery, check the SP settings in the attachment that greyfox posted. Both need to be just the opposite of what that attachment says to set. Otherwise it is looking for the fiery. One question. Why are you not using the fiery?

Ok will check those settings. I have no idea why, they haven't ordered a fiery for it haha.

I have 6 of these machines and only 2 of them have a fiery on them. They do not require a fiery. There is no additional setup out of the box besides taking the tape off and removing packaging material from drums and components. No sp settings required to change to enable or disable anything. There is no Gigabit ethernet port used, just the on-board network jack. Just plug it in and print. Don't know if this is a North American things or not, maybe they ship them differently or have different setup requirements other places.

If the machine does not have the fiery on it then you cannot use the custom paper library but that is the only limitation. You can use the pcl5 or pcl6 driver for printing as normal.
