MP C2503 Changing User info in Address Book returns error

Hi All,

I'm helping out a friend remotely trying to make changes a user in the address book of his MP C2503. At times, the machine would accept the changes. Other times, I get the following error: This device is currently in use by other functions. Please try again later.

I can only help him after my work hours late in the evenings so there's no one in the office. I'm not sure what functions are being used but there's no one in his office doing anything on the copier.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

The usual one is someone working with functions on the MFD control panel at the same time, or you might be running two open WIM browser tabs.
You must wait before the WIM updates can take effect. If you try to update the address book too quick you can get similar error condition.
Are you using TeamViewer or Windows Remote Access or Telnet ? If so don't forget there is a time delay from/to the remote PC screen.

You can download/backup the entire address book from the MFD or another working MFD do any modifications then update the address book in the MFD in one file upload/restore.

I have also seen this when remotely accessing WIM and the machine times out and goes into sleep mode.

Actually, even if the machine is printing or copying, it will NOT allow you to save any changes in WIM. Used to frustrate me when inputting a huge address book and someone walks up to the machine.

Thanks all.

Letting the machine sit for a few hours allowed me to make ONE change and then the dreaded message returns. It's a hit and miss as far as how long to wait.

Very frustrating to say the least!
