Hi, I have a call from a customer that can no longer scan to folder (they only have 4 setup). They said AT&T came and installed a new modem and the IP address is still the same and has not changed 192.168.1.XXX I checked the ip's on all the workstations and they have the same network address the only difference is the Default Gateway it is 192.168.1.254 on the copier and 192.160.1.1 on the workstations. I also tried to ping one of the workstations from the copier and it failed but the workstations could ping the printer no problem. Browsing the network for shared folders failed as well. They showed me their setup and it looks like the at&t modem, a router, and a small switch.

Re: Ricoh Scan to Folder Gateway question
For Small private networks with no central server.
----------------------------------------------------------
Static IP address network (has same old IP 192.168.1.254):
If they are using a static IP network you can change the new modem address from 192.168.1.1 over to the old 192.168.1.254
The reason being it would be much quicker to change the modem than to change all the connected network devices.
To go into modem/router configuration currently,Web Browse : 192.168.1.1
If DHCP network (setup with New modem IP 192.168.1.1) :
Has the modem / Router been setup as DHCP server?. I assume it's a DHCP server setting because the workstations have the correct Subnet IP.
If not go into the modem/router configuration an set it as DHCP server.
Go into the WIM(if possible) or MFD control panel and change the default gateway to new 192.168.1.1 (same as new modem/router IP).
Your DNS server settings in the MFD might need to be changed as well to the new modem IP 192.168.1.1
I assume there is an normal internet connection already for external DNS for workstations ?

Re: Ricoh Scan to Folder Gateway question
You need to set the gateway to what the computers are using. Try using the IP address of the computer you are trying to scan to. If that works, the problem is in net bios name resolution. If they are on a domain, check that the domain name is properly set properly. Also the first DNS needs to be the domain DNS. If it is a workgroup, the same applies to the workgroup name. You have the first DNS be the same as the first DNS on the computers, usually the same as the gateway or the DHCP. If the gateway and DHCP address are different, use the DHCP as the first DNS a that is where all the found local names will be stored. Without proper DNS, the MFP cannot resolve the name of any computer.
One more thing, has anything else changed such as the Window version on the computers. If they have updated form 7 to 10, the Ricoh might not have the correct firmware for SMB scan to Windows 8 or later.
NeoMatrix posted while I was typing. It is easier to change the gateway address on the Ricoh. You may not have the access code for changing the AT&T modem. If it is a Uverse modem, you may not even want to try.Comment

Re: Ricoh Scan to Folder Gateway question
While I was there I did switch the gateway to the one the workstations were using and it still failed. I completely forgot dns settings, they do have an outside IT company who did tell them that the issue was on our end, meaning the mfp was the problem not the company that just changed network devices lol. Im off today and tomorrow so hopefully Wednesday I get a chance to look at it. When i went on vacation I did leave with 8 calls on my screen. Most of them are waiting on parts that won't be in until i come back on Wednesday anyway.
