When trying to make a black & white copy, it will copy what I place in the tray however there is a 1/2" void down the middle. I thought maybe it might be the black toner so I replaced it with new one. Still doing the same thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance!

Re: Ricoh MPC2000
Sounds to me like center erase is set. From the copy function screen, press the Edit button and turn off center erase. Reprogram the defaults. If it is not there, User Tools - Copier Document Server Settings - Edit - Erase Center Width -
Re: Ricoh MPC2000
Are you reducing or enlarging ?
Are you using book-mode or two page separation mode ?
What paper sizes are in the paper trays or hand feed through the bypass tray ?
Can you post a sample image to the forum?Inauguration to the "AI cancel-culture" fraternity 1997...

Re: Ricoh MPC2000
I would say either an void area on the black dev roller or toner has spilled onto the laser glass for black.
Check the laser glass first as it's the quickest and easiest to clean, you can use the blue cleaning rod tool inside the front door.
Failing that remove the dev unit from the black PCU and check for an void area in the centre of the dev roller, rotate the dev roller backwards 4 or 5 times then forward again until you get dev roller to fully coat without any voids.- Knowledge not shared, is eventually knowledge that becomes lost... like tears in the rain.

If swapping in a new toner cartridge was your theory to resolve this problem...... then you need a tech.Comment

Re: Ricoh MPC2000
Is the page being fed LEF or SEF?
This model supports both.
IF it's SEF, it could be something as simple as a developing cylinder not always turning: bad clutch, gear, etc...
Note that there is no distinct break between the good and bad areas; it somewhat is progressive.
i had a Canon machine do that to me years ago, it turned out to be a bad clutch. It drove me nuts until I found it.“I think you should treat good friends like a fine wine. That’s why I keep mine locked up in the basement.” - Tim HawkinsComment

That did the trick. I cleaned it and voila no more problem. Thank you very much for your time and help!Comment
