    Ricoh 3245 duplex printing issues

Got a 3245 that wont let you print a duplex job.
Can photocopy using duplex with no problems.
Have tried both RCPS and PCL6 drivers and even printing from a laptop and cross over cable but still can't duplex. Go into driver set up and it wont even let you tick the duplex option box as its greyed out. Anybody any ideas?? (and yes, firmware was the first thing we tried!
    Cheers,

    Cheers,
Do you have admin rights?? Are there user codes needed?? Sounds to me like you don't have the authority to all options under user management.

This may be an obvious question, but did you go into accessories and tell it that it has a duplex unit?

Some of the Ricoh drivers need you to tab over to accessories and let the driver know what options are on the copier.

Yup tried that, duplex option not available i.e. greyed out.

By the sound of it you don't have admin rights. You'll need to ask whoever looks after the IT do either change it, or ask them to give you admin rights.

What is the environment that you are installing them in? I think NCart and FMC are correct about not having the proper rights for full print-properties functions.

At least that would be the next step to look at.

I'm guessing then that you are installing it in a domain environment, and the computer you are installing it on is not an admin or a power user or something.

If it's a common print driver on a server, the admin is going to have to change the properties on the shared driver. From there all of the users will get the change broadcasted out to them on their next log on.

You say you have a Ricoh 3245 - is that the color 3245?

If it is the color - I had one that had the default output tray set to "external tray".
Duplex is not available when this is set.
This is in user tools - system settings.

                  Yes its the colour 3245.
If its an Admin rights problem why can't I duplex with a laptop and cross-over? that will bypass the network.

And Fridgemagnet wins the Tech of the Month Award!!!!
Set the output to go via the finisher and the duplex works again.

If I ever 'have' to run into a 3245 again, I will definitely remember this one. Excellent find and a weird setting that you wouldn't think would affect it the way it does.

Thanks for letting everyone know that Fridge fixed it.
