    1027 PCU

    Hi Guys,

I am fairly new to the Ricoh copiers and have a question for you old timers. I have heard a lot of techs talk about using the 1027 PCU in other models. Can someone tell me which other models this PCU will work in? Also what mods ( if any ) need to be done to make this work. Any info will be much appreciated.

    TIA Totoro

The 2022/27, I believe the 3010's and related series as well.

I read on one of the threads about being able to use them on a newer box as well I thought, but I would think that they would have CQ problems.

I'm sure someone else can chime in on this one with additional info.

Ditto, for me. The newer boxes can have the PCU installed without any issues (so far). It's much more expensive than rebuilding the units, but in a pinch it can be done. When the developer gears crap out it's nice to know you can slap one in and get a customer back up and running.

Thanx guys, I appreciate the info. Does that mean that the 3030 PCU will work in a 1027?

I've never tried to see if the units are backwards compatible, but I have to believe that it would work. Do you have a specific reason why you would want to do that? In my experience the PCU units are much more trouble free than the rebuildable ones.

The type 1027 PCU will work in everything from the Russian-C2 (1027) up. I think the old one (220 / 270) is the type 320?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

              Hit it.

The 1027 PCU will fit in the following models with no modifcations:

                1022/1027
                2022/2027
                3025/3030
                MP 2510/3310
                MP 2550/3350

With a slight modification it will also fit in the 220 and 270. Just remove the set pin on the right side of the front of the unit. I have used them in it with no issues at all.

As for backwards compatible, there are extra pins on the back of the newer PCU's, and also a few different shapes. The 1027 all in one unit works so much better in my opinion than the rebuild-as-needed ones that I only use the assembly. Since it lasts past its yield, the cost per copy on service calls goes down and justifies the expense over rebuilding.

                  Cobiray,

I was just asking for the sake of my own curiosity about whether they are backward compatible. Who knows what info will come in handy someday?
