shall we reset after Replace developer and Drum for Ricoh mp6000 series ?

shall we reset after Replace developer and Drum for Ricoh mp6000 series ? refer to service manual advise after replacing developer must reset by sp2801 and replace drum by sp2962. but i was told by technician that is not necessary because the ricoh mp series machine will initialize it self once replace the developer and drum. wht is the lifespan for the drum and developer?

    thanks

MP 6000 does not have any way to detect new developer or drum. SP 2801 initializes the toner density sensor to the new developer. SP 2962 initializes the drum condition settings. Prior to running SP 2962, rebuild the corona, replace the cleaning blade and brush, clean the drum potential sensor and set all bias voltage to default. You also need to reset the pm counters for all parts replaced.

Procedure for DV change is very delicate for this model - starting with removing the old developer completely (PITA box contruction). Just follow the service manual instructions carefully...

SP 2963 is only used when the machine is new or any other time when there is no toner in the toner hopper.

Hi. I was just wondering, done a load of these machines for years without any hassle but why do you have to put the dev lot number in? Does it make any difference if you put other figures in?

                Thanks. Tim.

Designed to help identify a "bad lot number" of developer in case of multiple problem machines. Some people just enter the date of the developer change using the same number of digits.

SP 2962 is related to drum surface potential sensor. SP 3103 are image density sensor readings. They are not directly related. The potential sensor is located in the upper half of the PCU clam shell. The ID sensor is located in the lower half of the PCU clam shell below the drum cleaning station.

After cleaning the ID sensor you have to run SP 3001-002. The ID sensor should be cleaned with a soft cloth or paper towel using water only. If you have used a dry cloth or towel, you can leave static on the surface that will attract toner. If you used alcohol or anything other than water it can cloud the surface f the sensor and you will have to replace it.
