    Wavy lines

Howdy all. I have a Savin 9920DP that get's a quirky page occasionaly.
1st thing in the morning, it will give a page that is entirely zig-zag.
Will work fine during multiple scans, but after sitting a bit the first scan will be this. Any ideas as to what? Scanner, PCB, drum?

After it has been sitting a bit, and it's to a point when you think it will make a wavy scan, try to do an internal test print (smc) or something and see if it does it on that. In fact, do multiple internal test prints.

The test prints in the 2's can give you an idea as to which board may be flaky. It sounds like it may be the CCD/scanner assembly, but I would continue to check the internal printing.

If it never seems to do it with that, then you've somewhat isolated the scanner section and look there.

Try swapping the polygon mirror motor. I think I remember a similar problem on a different Ricoh model a long time ago, and I think that's what fixed it (not 100% sure though, my memory is kind of fuzzy beyond last weekend).
Don't take that toner with me!

on a Kyocera that symptom is caused by a Laser Assy 99% of the time. Try cleaning the polygon motor assy if you can get to it.

Clean the scanner rails and lay down a light coat of oil.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Thanks, all. that is what I was thinking, I will lubricate the rails, as it does seem to be a little glitch in movement. Could it be a power issue?
the scanner is probably just goin south. Boss said not to worry, he will buy another one. thanks again.
