MP171 SC302 ONLY with ADf connected

i have a strange problem with an MP171, the machine shows sc 302, that normally is a charge roller error, but if i disconnect the ADF the machine goes to ready and works fine in copy and printing.......the code comes up only with the ADF connected

Ok I've some strange problems with these units as well. I want you to try disconnecting the lead from the high voltage charge board which goes to the seperation unit. Then try the machine and see if this corrects the problem.

If it does we'll go to the next step from there.

Hi

Can you swop the DF with another known working one? Reason for my question is that the wires in the lead that connects the DF to the machine are very thin, and fail where they are cable tied together. These then touch and cause all kinds of weird errors.

Have seen this type of problems ever since the MP161 that used the same design.

The rear cover isn't very easy to assemble, perhaps there was a wire pinched when you assemble the cover...

swapped ADF with one of a working machine and now it's ok.....maybe some problem on the ADF or as you said a piched wire
