Windows 10 scanning fyi

I saw a powerpoint sent out today from a Ricoh engineer showing one thing that needs to be changed for sure....

• Right click on your network icon in the bottom task bar and then left click on "Open Network and Sharing Center"
• Select "Change advanced sharing settings" in the left column
• Scroll to bottom and expand "All Networks"
• Under "File sharing connections" select "Enable file sharing for devices that use 40 or 56-bit encryption"

This change may fix a lot of the current scanning problems going on but I'm sure there may be other settings that could require adjusting.

Sounds like a typical setup, just harder to find within the OS maybe. I haven't had the displeasure yet of working with 10. Thanks for the info.

I've only tried a few different machines here at my shop, that were previously updated to work with Win8, and the switch to Win10 was flawless (at least as it relates to scanning. There have been many other unrelated issues )
Maybe you have no further info on the reasoning for that setting?
I guess it's just something to keep in mind if scanning becomes an issue after the update?

The SMB version should be exactly the same between Win 8 and Win 10, so there shouldn't be any difference.

sometimes i did the same in Win7 and Win 8.1
