Bought a used Lanier LD238C and can't copy in color without a user code. Need help

A friend picked up a Lanier LD238C color copier-printer-scanner etc and it copies fine, but when she tries to copy in color it requests a user code. This printer is about 8 years old and way back then color copies were expensive and my guess is you needed a code in order to print in color so all employees didn't abuse this. My question is that it was bought used and we have no way to contact the original owner. Is there a way to reset this to its factory setting and have no user codes? She'd like to print some color copies - fliers but can't. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

is this done on the touchscreen panel on the front of the copier? Seems like I would need a password to get into this part of the menu system, but I will give it a try. Thanks much for the info. If this works she will be thrilled!

You will probably have to web into it and turn off user and machine authentication there. The machine usually won't let you turn that off at the operation panel.
