Ricoh C2050 will not let me program an IP Address for print and scan

    Hey guys,

I have a nice Ricoh MPC2050 that has a strange (to me) "other features" button in lieu of the traditional print and scan buttons to the left of the control panel. When I go into system settings and try to program an IP Address, the interface settings and file transfer settings tabs are missing. Evidently, they want me to go to the other features button and program all that stuff in there. Problem is, this Java enabled other features software has me locked out and asks for a username and password. Of course I do not have that and I cannot do anything with this.

My question is, Is there a default username and password that can be used to access this Java enabled user features software or can I simply erase this feature and reload the controller firmware so that it's reset back to factory defaults and the interface and file transfer tabs come back into the system settings? Can I just go into the SP modes and reset the machine back to factory defaults?

I know that I will need an SD card and I know that there needs to be a folder named ROMDATA for the copier to recognize the firmware. Can any of you help me with this? Thank you so much for your help.

You can try SP 5828 for doing network settings.

You can also turn off JAVA in User Tools. I don't have a machine here at home to check the steps but once you get to the correct screen, JAVA should show as "Starting up". Select it and it will change to "Stopping". You can then shut the machine off completely and remove the VM SD card. That will stop all JAVA apps.

I don't think the presence of Java affects the availability of the Print/Scan function, sounds like you might not have the print/scan SD card.

Nothing works quite so well that I can't totally disable it by trying to make it a little better.

If it doesn't have those keys, I wonder if this machine was hooked up to a Fiery at some point.

Sounds like you have the NIC turned to "0" (off). That will make those 2 tabs disappear

            Set SP 5985-001 to "1"
