    MP c6502 NV Ram Missing

Hi, I have a MP c6502 and the NV Ram has been removed and it can't be found anywhere. It is not my machine but a customers I have acquired. Can anyone let me know if its possible to instal a new one and use data from another machine to make it work or will it need the serial numbers or and the old NV Ram settings. I think the machine may be written off at the mo.

Any help would be gratefully received.

I would fit a new NVRAM and start from scratch.

Procedure is in the service manual on how to replace the controller and BCU NVRAMs.

It's not straight forward, but it is possible.

If you are lucky, the birth certificate will still be with the machine. If not, follow the Adjustment after Laser Unit Replacement procedures in the service manual to download the laser correction settings from the laser unit.

Hi, Can you copy a NV RAM and upload it to another machine? Once I have put a new chip in.?

        Thanks.

You could try the NVram procedures in the service manual. The only problem I can think of would be a serial number conflict. If I remember correctly, when you upload NVram data to an CD card the file name contains the serial number. I do not know if it is also stored in the file. You will still have to run SP 2108-001 & 002 to download the image parameters from the laser unit.

One question, are you missing all three NVram chips or just the one from the BCU or the two from the controller?
