    METC1a_epanel

    Hi,

I have a MP C5503 with the Smart Operation Panel that has a E32 error and it seems to be looking for METC1a-epanel firmware. Has anybody got any idea which firmware it is looking for.

    Thanks,

    Byron

Recent install of Smart Op Panel (SOP)? I got around a different firmware error code by installing the old 'normal' op panel, updating firmware, restarting & then re-doing the Smart Op Panel firmware, then installing the SOP

      From the Metis service manual:

      ERROR SCREENS DURING UPDATING

EXX shows an error code. (This error is generated if update was performed when a printer application startup card is removed after system startup. An error indicating failure of card access is displayed on the screen.) For error codes, refer to the following table:

32 Data during download interrupt is not correct. Insert the SD card containing recovery target module data after interruption. Reinstallation required

No this machine has been out awhile, it has 250k on it. Another tech updated firmware and broke it, now I get to revive it. I tried reloading known good package firmware for a Smart Op Pnl machine and it didn't help. Ricoh had me try a BCU and controller, when that didn't fix it they want NVRAM and EEPROMs next. I was hoping someone had been down this road before and could advise me on it.

        Thanks,

        Byron

I tried reloading firmware and no luck.

Did you start with a fresh download?

I tried a fresh download of the latest SD card package firmware for a Smart Op PNL machine from TSRC. I also tried a package firmware that I had used successfully on a Smart Op Pnl machine several months ago and neither worked. I looked and couldn't find individual firmware files to try one at a time.

Try my trick - install normal op panel, upgrade firmware for Smart Op panel, then install smart op panel on machine. Worked twice for us!

                  Re: METC1a_epanel

The method that tech support told me the first time I had to install one:
                  1. With the normal operation panel installed, bring all normal panel firmware up to date including all peripherals. If you use the package firmware, remember it does not update peripherals and may not have all updates for the main frame. Power off and remove firmwae SD card.
                  2. Reboot and confirm that everything still works with the normal panel.
                  3. Power off and insert an SD card with the latest SOP package firmware.
                  4. Turn on power and load the SOP firmware. Power off remove the SD card.
                  5. Power on and enter SP mode. Change SP 5748-101 [Op Type Action Setting] bit 0 to a value of 1. Change SP 5748-201 [Smart Operation Panel Connect Setting] to a value of 1.
                  6. Turn the main power off and install the SOP.
                  7. Turn the machine back on and change the following SPs:

                  • SP5-752-001 [Copy FlairAPIFunction Setting] bit 0 to a value of 1.
                  • Scanner SP1-041-001 [Scanner FlairAPI Function Setting] bit 0 to a value of 1.
                  • If FAX option is installed, Fax SP3-301-001 [FAX FlairAPI Function Setting] bit 0 to a value of 1. Note this is the FAX SP not system.

Cycle power off and back on.
