MP 2000 Le copy quality scan issue.

Here's a trap for old players!
Just been helping one of the field techs with a C/Q problem only in scanning. Half the image, from lead edge to trailing edge, was missing, sometimes blank and sometimes black. No problem when printing, only when scanning or copying.

It happened after another tech had cleaned the optics so we at first suspected a mirror had been knocked out of place. Pulled the cover off the lens assembly and after close inspection we discovered that the CCD had started to come unglued and wasn't held tight against the lens block.

A quick dab of superglue solved the problem and the C/Q was back to normal.

After a lot of brain scratching I remembered we've had a identical problem on the same model copier elsewhere in the same complex ( a large hospital) but over a year ago.

    Anyone else seen this problem?

Not that one exactly, but I have an mp2000 in the field that has been plagued all its service life with a severe sensitivity to dust. I'm out there once a month cleaning off the mirrors -- and this is in a very clean environment. The lines get pretty awful considering how little dust is on the mirrors themselves. I will have a look at that lens block/CCD next time I'm out there.

Not on anything that new, but back in the day I had a machine that would make half the copy fine, and the rest was bizarro print, just random patterns of lines and stuff. I had to replace the SBU to get rid of that problem. I think the machine was an AF1022, well, at least I know it was on one of the older 22 cpm boxes.
Also, congratulations on getting the CCD lined up again, you are a better person than me. I had to adjust a CCD once, because I was the fool who unadjusted it. It took me the better part of a half day, and while it was close enough I could still see it wasn't exactly right.

We were lucky, only the top half of the double sided sticky tape had come unstuck. just had to gently push it back into place.
