    Pro c5100 E-22B fiery question

Hi, All. I have a C7501 with an E-7200 fiery on it that is going to be upgraded to a C5100s with a E-22B fiery. I have some questions about it.
Is the E-22 and 7200 alike in features? (Don't want to get into the situation of "My E-7200 can do this, but the new E-22 can't")
The E-22B is described as an embedded controller, but the EFI site shows it as a stand alone controller outside the machine. Which is it?
Last but not least, how does this machine/ controller configuration work in the real world? (Hopefully not prone to a daily service call)
    Thanks for any info.

Re: Pro c5100 E-22B fiery question

I've got 2 E-22B Fiery's out in the field for over a year now. They are working ok, but their not pushed too hard for the color and graphics use. The E-22B is embedded by a tail as I call it. It stands alone on the floor with a cable connecting it to the machine. If you get a new one from Ricoh, it should have most of the patches already installed, there are over 50 patches for the original version 1.1. If your customer is doing more production color and volume or VDP opt for the EB-42. I've got one of these also and it's a pretty strong Fiery.

The Pro C5100 is a much better box than the c7501. There are some threads here for things like waste toner filling early, That's why you place a spare wtb and show the end user how easy it is to change.

There are MANY patches for the E22. Make sure you get it up to date. Should be OK after that

Also, I recommend putting the fiery (basically a small PC tower), on a UPS. You will save a lot of down time (and the HDD as well) when you have any power outages.

Also direct your customer to the EFI website for some of the "free" training from EFI, and to the youtube site for the "world of Fiery" channel for more "free" training. It will benefit both you and the customer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those both appear to be good resources. The client involved is a print shop and he has been fiery savvy for a few years. Actually, he knows more about the particulars than I do. Thank God, it make my job simpler
