scan to folder

hey,
recently i have read all the scanning thread about windows 8. I have Ricoh Aficio 6001 conected with win8 and installed filezila. I have set all settings , add uses, add folder but when I try to scan the 6001 the machine makes a copy of it.

When you say makes a copy of it do you mean it produces a paper copy?

Yes,it produces a copy, but I have to say that I resolved the problem. I was wrong at the ricoh settings in the adress book. I change the ip adress from 172.0.0.1 to my pc ip (192.168.0.5) and I configured it to be fixed, and vala it worked! I tested on win 7 ,win 8 and win 10.Don't screw around with SMB because the older machines work on SMB 2 and the win8 and 10 work on SMB 3.The filezilla is very good for ftp, and even you don't have to mess up with Microsfot IIS,because the procedure is very long to do. If you like that procedure you have to open the ftp. Here is the youtube link for that

It almost sounds like you have set the FTP destination as the 6001. Either that or you are not in the scan function on the 6001.

If you set the IP to static, did you also make sure that the router/DHCP server knows that the IP is now a static address? If not, you'll run the risk of getting duplicate IP's on the network. Also: for a customer site, be sure to let their IT know that you're configuring clear FTP since you don't want to unwittingly set off a security alert, or risk a customer's compliance requirements. By setting the destination for the scan to the IP of the MFP all you did was have the device send itself a scan that it interpreted as a print job.

Thus far, I haven't had the issues with SMB and Windows 8 and 10 that others have reported. Even with machines that only support Server 2008R2's SMB security level and with a Windows SMB security of NTLMv2 only things have been working well.

rthonpm thanks for your advice, because i didn't add the static IP addres to the router. Tomorrow i will do. I was wrong that I put na IP addressof the filezila on the copier settings (172.0.0.1).That was the problem. Then i put the IP adress of my pc and I it worked. I was a litle bit dummy messing around with the IP address.

I read 2 days on the forum and quite see that models like Ricoh Aficio MP 2000, MP 3350, MP 4000/5000 and the color MP 2800/3300, MP 2500/3000 have problem scanning whit win8 ,win 8.1 and win 10. Also I admit that slimslob is a very good tech guy trying to help

Also in my country companus migratte to win 10 from win 7 because somebody doesn't wanna lose the licence and somebody likes to try and then somebody else has to deal with the outher part of the equipment. I don't get people why they wanna mess around the software.

Many of my clients do security sweeps on their networks and things like FTP servers tend to get flagged. If the onsite IT doesn't know about the MFP using FTP it can cause more alarm than it needs to.

slimslob is a great resource on these forums! Most of the machines I deal with are segment 1 and 2 so MP 171, MP 2550/3350 with a few SP devices thrown in. The 171 has had no issues at all, but it has also had firmware for at least some of Windows 8. It really comes down to firmware. For the 2550 and 3350 I've found that the network firmware needs to be 7.38, which provides support for Server 2012, so far this has worked for Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 clients as well, even with their higher server versions of 2012R2, and Server 2016 (still to be released). For the MP 171 it's version 9.07 that gives the same thing. One other thing that may make a difference is that I recommend that most of my customers also change their security settings to only use NTLMv2, which gives SMB a slightly higher security profile, and I also configure the MFP to use this as well.

Older machines like the MP 2000, you're going to be out of luck with those for sure so I'll either stick an Ubuntu server or something else that can use SMB and have them scan to that with a local account.

172.0.0.1 is the internal loop-back address for any device. Anytime you set the FTP or SMB destination address to 172.0.0.1, the destination will be the sending machine. That is why it was printing.
