This is one I am confused about. The adf on the 301/305 machines. I had a customer that has a persistent adf jam issue. She scans a lot, so I order new rollers and sep pad. Put it all back together, still jams with the paper stopping at the separation point. The thing that I notice, is that the sep pad seems to be snapped down into place. That doesn't make sense to me because there is a spring under it that seems to be useless, no room to flex. I pop the pad up letting it bounce on the spring and then install the feed section using it to push the pad down with out snapping it down. Worked perfectly. Same week I had another one with adf issues, pulling more than 1 sheet and jamming. The pad was snapped down. I released it and it worked fine. But then I have been to a couple of them where the pad was snapped down and they had no issues. I am now confused, more than usual.

I don't think the lever is working all the time. Instaling the sep pad loose and letting the roller push it down into place was the difference between jamming and pulling extra sheets and working perfectly. Was curious if this was an issue. The greatest enemy of knowledge isn't ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. Stephen HawkingComment
