    MPC4000 original detection

    Hi

Got a problem with the original detection on this machine (MPC4000)
When feeding an original in the ADF it normally gives a beep to indicate there's an original on the tray.

Now, no beep, when trying to scan or copy the machine gives an error saying that there's no original detection . . ..
so no copy or scan is made and the next message is that there is an original on the glass .

Tried another ADF unit, same problem !
    Anyone a clue here ?

    Thanks in advance . .

    Try updating the System/copy firmware.

Seems that your adf are not recognized, try to open the side door and see if adf are show on picture at screen. If not, try to see if adf close sensor actuator are in the place.

Have you switch the main power off and on some time this fix's that fault as M/c forgets it has ADF

Does this machine have a service mode to check the adf , switches, sensors and motors ?. I would start there first to see if the adf is actually being seen by the machine and also check the error history list.

              Check the adf closing sensor.

                  Hi there....
Since you say you tried another ADF unit ,check or replace the ADF detect sensor on the machine...
                  Thanks

                    Re: MPC4000 original detection

Checked ADF on input and output, the only sensor that is not
working is the Original detection sensor.
Again, I swapped a good working ADF unit ! Also the ADF detection sensor on the body

so the error must be on one of the boards . . .
The ADF board or the BICU.

                    anyone had this before?

                    thanks in advance

The ADF connects to the bicu via the scanner i/o. Had a similar fault where the connect or wasn't properly made on the SIO. Worth checking all is properly connected before changing boards.

The sensor is obviously working so you should be able to follow the +5v detect signal all the way to the bicu. If you can measure the signal change going into the bicu then you could justify ordering a replacement. Point to point has the connector pins to check.

No point to point manual, so I ordered the cheap board, the ADF I/O board,
unfortunatily it didnt work, BICU is now being ordered . . . .

This machine is killing me !

changed the complete AFD, the ADF I/O board, and BICU board . . . . No results !!!

Noticed when did the ADF input check the paper detection sensor and the paper wide sensor2 not responding

                          Anyone??
