Contact Ricoh for custom NCS firmware for Windows 10. If Ricoh doesn't have any, you need to strongly suggest the customer roll back to Windows 7 OS. Also, did the customer create a local account on their Windows 10 computer?...or did they do an online account with Microsoft? Sometimes you can have issues with account permissions in regards to file sharing!

Try making a local account for the machine so it can login and drop the files into a folder.

        Good Luck!

I have had zero issues with win 10 as long as the firmware upgrade for win 8/2k12 is installed. Have installed seven customers with MP5--- series and all scan to win7, win8 and win10 with no issues.

I don't like Windows 8 & 10...Microsoft adds an extra layer of stupidity with their interface for touch devices!...not to mention the OS likes to, and without asking I might add, install drivers for your network devices. In the instance of MFP's alot of times you will get a "generic" driver, such as a "Ricoh Class" driver, which is not specific for the Ricoh/Savin model of machine you have. Plus more often than not, the accessories won't be recognized, such as the finisher.

Annoying!...I'll stick with my Windows 7 Pro OS!

I LIKE to KNOW which driver I am using for my Network Devices!!!

In a year you won't be able to get WIN 7 as Microsoft is discontinuing support for WIN 7. All new PC's will be loaded with WIN 10. As for the "class drivers". I agree. However, I always install the correct drivers when I do the install or a customer gets a "new" pc.

That Doc refers to scanning to Windows 7.
There is a newer custom Network firmware for Windows 8/10

I have found that it is easier to click on "The printer I want isn't listed", then select "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings". Otherwise you can end up with a Ricoh Class driver on a WSD port.

The other thing I do when installing a new Windows computer is I never set one up using an email account as the login. I see no reason to give Microsoft any information abut me or my customers.

I agree with slimslob one hundred percent. That is exactly how I load drivers also.

Re: SMB Scanning Issue Windows 10

The issue with Windows 10 specifically with scan to folder is that the SMB protocol version has been increased from v1 to v2/3.

Unfortunately, this increase in security stops the use of many of the older series of machines (have found including and all models before the MPC4500 do not have firmware for support) using this feature. They can only use SMBv1.

There are a few options you have if you want to keep both: running Windows 10 and the existing old device.
                      - Use FTP. Its still supported and it works. Not overly difficult to setup.
                      - Use scan to email. Easiest option. I generally set customers to go through their ISP SMTP and it works well.
                      - Get a NAS drive. They will support SMB from older devices and they run a small linux client which doesn't have those restrictions.

Last option and most definitely the LEAST recommended way, is the change the SMB security on the Windows 10 machine. I do not like to decrease security, it has been bumped up for a reason and you're just asking for trouble. But it is possible and I've tested it to work (for giggs). You are essentially turning back on the SMBv1 options, bit of a fiddle but yeah.

i had no problems with Windows 10, even with the MP 171..............i experienced that if you can't access to the network shares via "Browse Network", it works fine if you setup the path manually .

I have just run into my first machine with this problem, a Savin C3333. Does anyone have a link to the appropriate firmware for this model? Thank you.

www.my-ricoh.com - you can request access to the site.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                            Hit it.
