    Ricoh Aficio 2035

What would cause a shadow on the edge of the copies that are fed through the machine LEF (Lead End First)? The shadowing only happens when duplexing and only on the second side of the copies. If I duplex manually, the shadowing is not there. Thank you for any help given.

Bent scanner frame maybe? Give the front left corner a slight tug upwards.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

When you say manually, do you mean manually feeding the single side output back into the tray or as in double siding using the platen glass?

If the shadowing is happening when using the ADF and not the platen glass, clean all the ADF rollers and belt then check the ADF rego.

If it is happening with both, there could be slipping in the duplex section. Clean all the guide rollers and check the clutches as they are prone to wearing out and slipping.

For "LEF", are you sure you didn't mean "Long Edge First"?
I may not be the sharpest copy in the shift tray, so I apologize if I am mistaken.

Most Ricohs default to adding a 2mm offset to one side when duplexing. If the margin erase is less than 2mm, you get a shadow line. On the older models it is in User tools - Copier document server - Edit. On the new models it is in the Edit tab on the bottom of the Copy Function screen(as long as you are not in simplified screen). I always set it to 0 on all machines before delivery.

++ on that, had one of those tip over on the truck and had to do that to get the scanned image clear again.

Tip over? Fuck me. I bet that was a mess.

Dark band on the back of the copy LEF is usually bad developer.
