Ricoh 2035 SC J019 Jam at duplex entrance sensor problem

All copying and printing is great except the machine will not duplex - the first side is fused and then comes out into the output area about a third of the way and then just stops. It does not even try to go back in to print on the other side. It won't do 2:1 from the glass either so I know it's not the feeder. Nor will it print two-sided from a PC.

I see in service mode that all the jams are at the duplex entrance sensor. I am not sure where it is located however, I have a diagram but can't locate it. Or maybe it's not the sensor but something else? Could someone direct me if they have seen tins issue? Thanks

Go into output checks, SP 5804, and see if the duplex motors turn on. Also check the duplex sensors, input checks SP 5803.

Will do this, thanks. I have a parts machine I can grab the suspect parts from and save a trip that way. Is the duplex motor as well as the sensor above the fuser? Do I need to remove the top scanner to get to it?

My guess is its the old 'sticky solenoid' issue on the interchange unit.
Remove scanner, and exit section, and remove the 'noise' cushions from the solenoids that break down due to heat of the fuser.

I misread his original post. I thought he said it was coming out toward the duplexer. Read it again and realized he said the exit tray. Definitely something to do with the gate or the gate solenoid.

I went to my parts machine and removed the interchange unit to take with me today if needed, but did not see what you have described as the solenoids. Are they not in the interchange unit but somewhere underneath it?

The solenoids are on the front and rear metal side frames, see PAPER SEPARATION UNIT 2 in the parts catalog.
