Had one last week if you have toner drop out of hose at pump end try another pump, the one i fitted(new) was faulty, the clutch part had separated.

thats always the worst. you replace a part, unknowingly that its bad, and then start a needless chase of the tail. god i hope that didnt happen. but would at least resolve the problem. are the clutches interchangeable with the others? other than the toner contamination? i could try one of the others. the assembly came from a Ricoh authorized dealer.
      happy Friday, Jim

you just hit the nail on the head. i went back to retrieve the Hytech board that needs to go back. while there, i pulled the low voltage power supply i repaired a few years back looking for any additional cracks. all looked ok. i looked for the other board good ol Hytech said it could be. i had looked at the parts manual this am and they list a different part number for each pump. i suspect that is due to a different length rubber hose, and a slight different manifold tube bend. well, i pulled the black and magenta pumps again for the umtienth time. thought about blowing it out and swapping them. i looked really close and compared them and low and behold, the clutch has a collar on the inside side, and it wasnt held by the white retaining inner clip. and that ment that the gear was moving at lease a quarter inch on the shaft. i dont know how i missed that when i first installed it. but anyway, i pried that clutch collar back onto that bushing clip, reinstalled it and damn, it came right to ready in what seemed less than a minute. then i did the sim 2112 "C" and then "A" calibrations. did the user mode color registration adjustment and the copies were good. well, except for the magenta background. looks like it needs a drum. so, your the man of the day. and its Friday the 13th. so, thank you for causing me to think deep and get to the bottom of this. i wonder if the Ricoh dealer will compensate me for the crap i dealt with and all the money i spent? you can guess that answer.. thank you very much. have a great weekend, Jim

We're still waiting on an answer to your question about whether he's tried another Dev unit??
My money's on contaminated dev from CRAP toner.
well, thank you "for waiting to see if "HE" has replaced the dev unit". i am not sure what you are referring too when you are talking in the third person persona. you were replying to my thread that i posted about an add toner message with new toner and a new toner pump. i guess i had an original post several weeks earlier that said that after doing an engine clear routine, "the copies looked fine". i see now that i guess i just rambled into where i had left off. sorry for that. i thought i had reiterated that after doing an engine clear. the copies were fine. so, i was getting disgruntled when the post kept asking me if the dev unit was turning and did i / HE change it yet. sorry. any knowledgeable tech would have known that if the copies were fine when the error was cleared, than that would obviously rule out the developer units. this thing got me frazzled. and as i replied earlier, it turns out that the root cause of the apparent mis diagnosis was due in part that when i found a bad black toner pump i called my Ricoh dealer. and they sent me a nice brand spanking new defective part. and being 85.00 plus shipping, i didnt want to purchase another on a whim.
another now amusing thought. the post about "its totally billable" is it still? as i had billed them for the pump and labor. then was going to bill them for a exchange board. i have to pay for the shipping and restock on the board, but i see no way i can recoup those costs from the customer. i guess they did originally use generic toner. but the pump was bad, and i charged them to replace it. so i guess i keep the machine going for future service calls, but wont make a dime on this one. thanks Ricoh. i do appreciate all the input and thoughts from you all. have a great weekend, Jim
