    partial feint black copy

guys, had an mpc2000 today with half the black copy fading away or alternating to non existent. Looking at the shutter SP 2914-001 to 004 adjustments , stop delay-open, stop delay-close, etc, and their values. In practical terms, what do those adjustments mean exactly and how does varying the value affect the outcome ? The manual is not very explanatory regarding this. Thanks.

    Nevermind all that.
Just take out the Laser unit, and Remove the shutter. Problem solved

Thanks sandmanmac, that was quick, however I've the seen the advice on many posts about removing the shutter, I still want to understand those settings and what exactly they mean, what effect.

The concept of the shutter is that when the machine is idle the shutter is supposed to close and keep tone and dust from getting on the shield glasses. Nice idea in concept but not in application. The shutter sticks and causes many problems. If you are in a high dust area, train the customer how to use the wand for cleaning the shield glasses.

2-914-001 open 1- 50 (38 default), if you change the value to 1 or to 50 what does that do ? open or close the shutter more ?
2-914-002 close 1- 50 (38 default), if you change the value to 1 or 50, what does that do ? open or close the shutter more ?
just trying to comprehend the meaning here guys.

Ok, did some trial and error to sus it out before going to the customer's machine to sort out.

SP 2-914-003 could not see any effect whatsoever,
SP 2-914-004 could not see any effect whatsoever,
SP 2-914-002 'stop delay-close' could not see any effect whatsoever,
            but,
SP 2-914-001 'stop delay-open' set the value to 1 and the copy is barely visible, set to 50 and its very dark and fully visible. When I checked the machine that had the faded half copy, this setting was at 9, and '002' was at 2. I put to default both values at 38 , and the copy was perfect ! How those ridiculous values got entered I don't know, but I have learned the effect of altering the 2-914-001, and checking this before needing to yank out the shutter.
