MP C4503 no staple when printing

    Hi All,
This probably has a easy fix but for the life of me I can't think of it!
We have two MP C4503's at the same customer that staple fine in photocopy mode but when you print to them using a PCL6 driver you tick the staple box and the copiers finish the job but not a staple to be seen. The tech on-site tells me he has tried using his laptop with both PCL6 and PS drivers via a crossover with the same result.
If somebody can point out what we've missed I promise you won't get a "Sybil" award for pointing out the "bleeding obvious"!

Thanks for the replies guys, still waiting for the field tech to get back to me with more detail.
We've tried all the user tools / printer settings without success but the MS Office settings could be worth exploring further.

            Try printing to a file.

Then open the file with Notepad, or any other text editor.

Somewhere in the first few lines you should see the PJL command for stapling.

If it is there, it' a machine problem. If not, it's on the PC end.

It may not fix the issue, but will certainly narrow it down.

Thanks Guys, some more things to try. I'll pass this along to the field tech and let you know the results.

We have a similar issue but it only seems to be when the paper tray is labelled 'letterhead'. just ignores the staple command and outputs the document.

We tried the print to file suggestion made earlier in the thread and it does appear, so its pointing to a device issue.

MFD has the most up to date firmware available in the Europe Market and we have opened discussions with Ricoh Technical about this too.
