    Embedded Solutions Architecture MP 4002

We have a school system that is utilizing java for pcc and equitrac. The models are the MP 7502, MP C4502, and MP 4002.
Lately the MP 4002's have been developing a problem where at random times during the day the machine operations panel will display..
    Embedded Software Architecture
    Please install or start extended feature in [Extended Feature Settings}

    or

!The following extended feature was stopped due to insufficient memory.
    > Extended Feature Name: PCC

The customer can get the machine to reset by turning it off and back on.
We have tried updating Java, updating firmware, Reloading all software, HDD, totally new Java card, and a controller. All on the one machine that we are trying to isolate the problem on.
The customer is becoming increasingly anxious to get the problem resolved.
    Has anyone seen this before?
Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Change the heap and stack in the Administrator Tools section of Extended Features to their maximum settings. If the machines then start coding with 997, drop the value by 10% or so.

Check whether the customer has a Java App, that is not programmed to start up at power on, programmed to a function key or to the Home Screen. If there is one programmed to a function key, that key could be faulty.

Install PCC compatible with the Equitrac version, also check for new hotfixes. What PCC and EQuitrac Version installed?

Java version is 10.21, PCC is 4.2.2.0819, and Equitrac is 5.2.22.
We had stack and Heap Maxed but
My solutions group advised me to set Stack to minimum and HEAP to 46M.

            Any other Java apps installed?

Where is PCC installed to, the HDD ar Java card? (It should be on the Java card.)

You may want to update the Java to 10.23, and PCC to 4.2.3.

Also make sure you keep current with ALL the Equitrac hot fixes, even if they don't apparently apply.

It would not be a bad idea to upgrade Equitrac to 5.4, or 5.5 if you have access to it.

Install PCC 4.2.3, this solved our problem.

I know you said you did firmware, but Java depends on the System to be at a certain level or above, as that is stated on the TSRC Java page.

In turn, System needs the correct version of Network and Engine.

Just as a heads up, you need to update in order: System, Network, then Engine. (That is mentioned in the firmware packager instructions). After those, you can do the rest in any order.

If done out of order (there is nothing in place to prevent that), you could have any number of issues.

Sorry, I'm not trying to steer the discussion toward firmware flashing procedure, which may seem to be unrelated, but I've caused myself some grief, with Equitrac and other enablers, by updating incorrectly.

That was for when you are upgrading from versions of the system that did not support package updates. If system, network and engine were not at a level that supported package updates, the package would fail.

SP 5-191 set to 0 can help in some instances, if failing after coming out of energy saver mode.
