Guys, have you encountered this kind of problem. The machine hangs during copying process. It will just indicate "COPYING". The paper is fed before the registration roller. When I switch off the machine, the paper will come out but blank copy. Firmware is already updated, reseat the controller board, disconnect the HDD but still same problem. The machine has a total counter reading of 23,071. I am thinking to replace the controller board. Any ideas?

Aw, crap, while I'm not familiar with that model I have seen that problem on older machines a while back, and I don't remember exactly what it is. Sorry about that.
I think it might have been something about cover interlock switches being momentarily open or a problem with the voltage provided from the wall socket the machine is plugged into. But that could be stupid wastes of time too.
It actually could be that the toner cartridge is pretty empty and the machine is trying to extract the bitter dregs of what's left, but most machines now indicate when the cartridge is low on toner. So that's pretty unlikely as well.
I'll try to remember what was going on, but for now it is probably best if you wait for someone else to comment. -

That's a "classic" LASER issue, surprised it hasn't threw any codes (check the logs as it might have logged one). Pull the laser unit out, clean the mirrors. You probably need to replace the polygon motor. Depending on your parts situation, you might be able to score a "refurb" unit. Those machines (with all their CQ warts), actually do quite well regarding fusing/laser codes (as in NOT to often)Comment
