Really Dissapointment using Gestetner MP 2000 L2

i live in indonesia
about 3 years a go i bought 1 copier machine
it's called Gestetner MP 2000 L2

first, i thought the machine was good for business. i open a copier centre..
after i used it for 3 months... I BECAME REALLY DISSAPOINTMENT
the reason is:
1. original toner is too expensive.
2. the machine can not be used for heavy duty.
3. poor service (no service at all)
the salesman sold it then he left it.
i got cheated by the salesman)
4 i bought it about Rp 28.000.000, ($ 2.000).
after half a year, i sold it to another person Rp 4.000.000 ($ 286)
i lost a lot of money.

Now, anyone using that product in my city became alert with that salesman
no one trust him anymore..

Next time do a little research on any copy machine you are thinking about obtaining. The MP 2000 was originally launched in February of 2007. At 20 Pages per minute, it was an entry level machine intended for the Small Office/Home Office, SOHO. Recommended monthly volume was 3500 pages with a maximum monthly volume of 12,500. Toner yield was 9000.

In the proper use, it was a fairly decent model.

COPIER CENTRE BUSINESS need a machine with 50 copies per minute and above .A second hand mp5000, 6000, 7000 is better than a new mp2000, mp3350

It is a low volume home/small office machine
not a machine for a print shop
its a bit like your profile it says Technician when clearly you are and end user

After 32 years repairing office equipment yes i guess i can be considered a senior tech
if you do not have the experience in the industry it is always worth asking for advise
if you tell people your an end user looking for a machine to do a job

Elmo is right, im doing this job for 11 years now, and yes im living with this job, and trust me , the MP2000 is not a machine for copy shops, the serious machines for copy shops starts at 50cpm....your salesman had to know that.

If the Salesman is honest... You cannot put the blame on the salesman, his job is to make square peg fit in round hole or in other words, close the deal, even if he does not know what a copier looks like. The onus is on you to do your homework and know what exactly you want and check the specifications of the machine. As the saying goes in north america BUYER BEWARE.

Also with the advent of the internet, you can easily check with manufactures if the particular machine will meet your needs.

kinda feel bad as to my last reply in this thread about salesmen. I would not put all in this category, as there are people who have been doing this for years, knows their product and can advise you as to the choices and options and you make your decisions ect. But there are many who gets into the business and eager to prove themselves will take shortcuts too. I have seen many go and come and it is a difficult job and if they don't sell, simply they don't get paid.
If is was simple as here it is take it or leave it then their job would be easy. But their training leads them to the animal instincts of survival and go for the kill.

The MP 2000 were good machines, in fact, the newer entry-level B&W are mostly built off this model with some increased processing power and memory capacity. The fusers are easy to rebuild, have only a few issues with stripper pressure over time, and the UFRs can degrade with extensive above PM usage. The drum is easy to rebuild and does last past PM. We always replace drum, cleaning blade, charge, and dev together. Sometimes the dev gears do wear down, requiring a complete dev unit replacement. We used to have a lot of these machines out on construction sites, back in the day, until everyone wanted colour. Keep it clean, and replace at or just past PM, and it wil last for years.
