    Colors all wrong...

I have a Richo MPC5000. Been working great for years. Roughly 173k clicks right now. All of a sudden the colors are printing "off"...very odd coloring going on that are just not accurate representations. If I print a palette sample from the machine, each individual color appears correct when printed individually, but when printing a full color image, the "blending", so to speak isn't happening correctly. I suspect it's some of those expensive parts- but I don't want to go spending a ton of money guessing at what the issue could be.

Any ideas or best ways to approach isolating the problem?

    thanks,

    Andrew

At 173k on a machine that old the lube bars in the PCU's will probably be shot. They are rated for 120k. The developers are rated for 240k on this model so it may be another age related issue.

With regard to the colour registration, the ID sensors could require a clean and running ACC in user tools wouldn't hurt.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

Sure thing- what's the best way to do that in here? Upload the original PDF and upload a scanned copy of the result?

The first thing to try is to clean the ID sensor and then run Auto Color Registration in User Tools.

A picture of an internal test print would be the most convenient, but your take would be OK.

Most likely a "surge" or some other electrical gremlin "reset" the nv ram to default (unintended "engine clear"). You need to re enter ALL the magnification, and skew SP's from the "birth certificate" (under the label behind front door). After that, run the forced line adjustment (rough, then fine), and finally, user tools ACC.

I wouldn't go so far to reset nvram until a very last resort. Likely it needs id sensors cleaned. Dragging PCUs due to age could cause some color issues it may need pm, but there could be several problems like transfer current, damaged ITB, PTR, poor electrical issues or grounding. If you don't service machines I highly recommend you have a service tech come look at it. If your not sure what to do you could end up just throwing in lots of parts for no reason.

The simplest thing you can try is to run the Auto color calibration in the user tools, maintenence section. run all of the print and copy sets.
