    if the hinge isn't broken, I'd look at the two black hooks on the adf cover, supposed to clip into that white bar, if they are unhook, it can cause jamming or skewing

      There is an adjustment for the left and right carriage rails at the front and the back I suspect this scanner is similar to the B & W MP 161. I mention the MP 161 because I have had several that print fine but are noticeably skewed both through the ADF and from the Scanner Glass. Even though the Left and Right Carriage Assy's were correctly aligned I had to "slightly" misadjust them to take the skew out of the ADF and Scanner copies. BE CAREFUL if you try this as only a small misadjustment can cause headaches with what the CCD reads and can cause the image to appear as a parallelogram.
