[Error Code] Savin 2527 (Ricoh 1027) SC 542 Error Code

This machine ran great in my shop for several months. I sold it to a customer and after moving and hooking it up it started throwing SC 542 codes. (Thermistor problem) Once you clear the code the machine starts to work after clearing the code a few times. I changed the thermistors and checked the heat lamps for discoloration and continuity. Still no change... Any ideas would be so helpful...

Common problem for this model during cold weather. Check SP 1103, Fusing Idling. If firmware level is correct, set to 2.
    Switches fusing idling on/off.
Switch on if fusing on the 1st and 2nd copies is
incomplete (this may occur if the room is cold.)
    [1 = On / 0 = Off / 2= Off + Temp]
Use 2 to prevent SC542 from occurring at power-on.
NOTE: Use SBCU firmware ver. 3.23 or newer.

just what slimbob said and you may need an OEM heat roller as well, if you are not already using one.

Check the power outlet: I had one of these about four months ago where the outlet was actually loose in the wall giving the machine a pile of 542 and 548 codes. Also make sure neither of the thermostats are getting flaky.

Thanks so much !!.. I thought it may be a temp problem as my shop is warm the customer place is kept a lot cooler...

Thanks so much... I did rebuild the fuser, used an after market heat roller... Was wondering if that may be an issue... will let you know...

The power is flaky in this old building. Thinking if all else fails I will get an electrician in there... Thanks so much for your feedback...

Was the no-oem heat roller. The compatible heat roller was heavier than the OEM and was not heating up as fast... Replacing it fixed it... Thanks so much

One interesting thing I've found for these older models is that often the PM kit for the 3025 and newer models is much cheaper than the PMB022120K kit, even though the only difference is the part number on the transfer roller, which works just as well even in the older units.

Overall I may be in the minority, but I've never found third party parts to be close to the reliability of their OEM counterparts.

Some people like to rebuild the PCU on the dinosaurs. Personally I do not, but my boss likes the cost savings so insisted that he stay with those from Katun as I have not had any problems with their kits in the past. He bought a couple from another source a few years ago(much lower price than Katun). The cleaning blade on one went limp in about 2000 pages and the other lasted about 5000.

I ran into this exact problem shortly after the AF 1027 came out, but forgot about that until just now.
                      Sorry about that.
For what it is worth, chances are the compatible roller is actually for the Savin 9927 (Ricoh AF 270).
