MP C1500 The Mother of all Turkeys?

Haven't seen any international rantings about the MP C1500 (pegasus) yet.
Are us colonials downunder the only techs who have had this abomination of a inkjet dumped on them? Its so bad it makes a tired 1224 (uranos) look good!

We have plenty of them installed. Works almost fine, they should be located in low production position (not too low). We have some that get 3000-5000 b/w pages and 500/600 full color monthly.

We encountered major failure in only two machines (color bleeding). We had to substitute all the main engine. But Ricoh gave us assistance.

They waste a lot of "gel" for maintenance, but it's almost inside the average of a good Inkjet. Cartridges last about 70% than Ricoh declare.

A3 color machine, with a low starting cost, but High maintenance cost. There are potential clients. :-)

    IMHO 1224 where worse.

    See ya.

I'm glad I'm not the only one!!!
I've been a Gestetner tech for ten years now and this is one of the worst units I've seen... I've got a feeling it might have something to do with the weather- hot and dry. (South Africa) This I think causes the ink 'gel' to dry too quick.
constantly removing the maint. unit and cleaning the heads manualy!!!

Don't get me started on the 35's and 45's

Funny enough I enjoy working on these and don't think they are that bad.
It's a change from the norm to work on what is potentially just a oversized inkjet.

I do agree they need to be sold correctly though.
As I can see how some customers would complain about them if they were expecting the speed and sharpness of a laser printer.

Yer but I decided to stick with fixing copiers instead.
