Ricoh 1515MF with Scanrouter V2 and Windows XP PC

    I'm close to giving in.
the printer is connected via lan cable directly to pc, both have same gateway different ip's.
i've set the scanrouter software, (as a services and services are running)
i've added the printer as IO device
the printer see the delivery server as the correct ip of the pc
the pc can ping to the printer and print to it.
but it just can't update the destination list no matter what i do.
i've turned off windows firewall but it's the same.
i've checked sp 5845 and the ip is correct.

don't have any ideas. please help!

I recall gave up an attempt on a XP machine that got the latest patches/service packs - it was a running installation stopped working some day, probably after windows update.

WHY???????????? this is very ancient stuff. When Xp Sp3 was released it basically killed SR lite, it shuts the Dcom protocol down. There used to be a doc with some work around that was 50/50 at best, I don't think I could locate it in my antiquities file anymore....................

The best you can do is scan to folder with password. Tonerbomb is correct when XP SP3 relased an updated they all stop working. I still have them running on windows 7 and 8, scan to folder will work. Mongo

Damn you SCANROUTER! Every time I think you're dead and buried, You manage to slither back into our lives!
Ok.........I remember several occasions where i had to manually set the server IP in SP mode to get a machine to communicate with the PC.
          SP5845-2

Also.... while I don't understand all the the Dcom stuff relating to the problems that Win XP apparently caused. I can't cay that I ever experienced it. I know I had lots of boxes running on it; that is, unless that's what was causing me to have to manually enter in the Server IP address for it communicate

That's all well and good except that the 1515 doesn't support SMB. Unfortunately, it may be time to replace the device: if nothing else, you're keeping a vulnerability on a customer network in the XP workstation.

Download network twain driver and install it then try to use "easyscan" program or Microsoft Word to insert pictures you want to scan

I can't believe there is a customer naive enough to keep an XP machine on the network.

                Talk about inviting disaster!

Just as a reminder, ALL Ricoh XP drivers (including TWAIN) have been removed from the download page as of last April.

It's antiquated for sure, but since the machine is connected to the PC directly via an ethernet cable, it sounds as if the PC isn't even connected to the internet. Whatever the case, the fact they're running an AF1515 on Windows XP, makes me doubt it's part of any highly sensitive network.

Is it Scanrouter V2 or is it Scanrouter V2 Lite. If I remember correctly, Scanrouter needs to be installed on Microsoft Server 2000 or 2003 to function properly. Preferably a dedicated server.

Make sure that FTP port 3670 is open.

You may need to open it manually.

I very vaguely remember needing to do this. It makes no apparent sense to enable a port when the firewall is turned off, but it's sure worth a try.

You are correct after looking at the machine list those with scan to folder are Aficio MP 161.

just configured scanrouter with windows 7 sp1 and it worked instantly.
strange. i didn't needed to open ports or even cancel my symantec endpoint protection.
installed, configured, worked. life is a mystery.

Sorry, that was TCP port, not FTP port. Duh.

                            Glad it's working for you.

Tiny point but if you're connecting directly from the copier to a PC without using a router, make sure you're using a crossover cable.
