This particular machine has had this problem for a while, it is only light on the front frame side of the machine, it does not matter the orientation of the paper it's always on that side, so far the PCU unit ,developer unit and developer have been changed. We had another machine with the same customer have the same problem and what finally fixed that one was the laser unit, so i tried the laser unit in the this machine but had no affect on the problem, also changed transfer roller, basically i took every thing from the working machine and put it in the bad machine, except for the pwbs if anyone has had a similar problem i would appreciate any feed back. Thank You

I see a laser shield glass on the parts catalogue, just not a part number for it.
D158_D159_EU_V1.13.pdfIt's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.Comment

Both have a laser shield glass but it's kind of glued from the inside of the laser housing and not removeable. Best way is vac out the machine, then use an air blower and last step a q-tipComment

I like using Chicopee Stretch n Dust dust cloths. Work great for dust and toner. THey are the orange cloths that are in the tech supply kits that Ricoh used to put in the PM kits. They can be obtained online.Comment

To get to the shield glass you need to remove the front door as well as the brown cover on the front side of the machine. You cannot get to it like in the old day by lifting the hopper handle or removing a small cover. Once the brown cover is off, it simply slides out like the old MP2000 glass.Press the GREEN button!!Comment

Sorry for necro'ing the thread but had same issue today and found this thread while sitting on the floor scratching my head after cleaning LD unit and trying to adjust the non adjustable gap on mag roller doctor blade without any luck. So just posting this in case someone else stumbled onto this thread with same problem
My machine had one of the spring mounted rollers on the transfer/seperation case missing so had uneven pressure between the OPC drum and T/S roller.
Removed the remaining one as a temp fix till I can get a replacement and prints look good

Re: copy and prints are light on one side on a MP 2501sp
I have had this in a few dusty environments. Due to the polygon mirror spinning, the dust will accumulate on the outside edge only of the (laser) polygon.
This produces a light vertical outside edge of prints and copies. After cleaning the dust shield, laser assembly glass.
If still light,
then go through the hassle of removing the laser polygon mirror motor. Be sure to use a very soft CLEAN cloth on each edge.Comment
