[Error Code] SC 687-00 (MP 4002SP)

The machine is working fine in printing but not in copying. When I press the copy button, "COPYING" is just showing in the display and the error SC 687-00 will appear after a couple of minutes. I opened the side door and I have found the paper fed before the registration roller.
I have already replaced the controller board, IPU, BICU and PCB:MB but still same problem. I have updated the firmware, disconnected the ADF, removed the HDD, cleaned the registration sensor, cleaned the DIMM and checked the continuity of all fuses in the PSU but still not solved the problem. Do you think CCD or NVRAM has a problem? Any ideas?

Off the top of my head. I believe SC 687-02 is VM card removed.
Do you have a dead SD/VM print/scan card or damage slot ?

I just realised the model number is MP4002.
In the older MP4000 series there was a bulletin that showed issues relating to multiple events.
I'll see if I can find it.....

      ------------------------------ Bulletin ------------------
      Symptom corrected:
      1. If the machine main power is turned OFF during an RFU (remote firmware
update) of the firmware, "Please Wait" is displayed when the machine is
rebooted, but the condition cannot be cleared.
      2. Sudden loss of wireless network connectivity with an error message on the
operation panel: "Problems with the wireless card."
      3. Continuous printing of IPDS jobs for 5-6 hours results in the error message
"Functional problem detected." being displayed on the operation panel.
This is recorded in the error log as an SC687 error
      .
      .

      9.

        Re: SC 687-00 (MP 4002SP)

        From the service manual:

687 D Memory address (PER) command error. The BCU does not receive a memory address command from the controller for the prescribed time after the paper has reached the registration sensor.
         Harness Disconnection at BCU
 Controller board loose or broken
         Defective BCU
         Defective Controller Board

Since printing works, my guess would be there is a disconnection in the data flow from the SBU to the BICU. If you have another machine, swap out the SBU. If that does not correct it, check all harnesses and connections from the SBU to the BICU.

I had some funky problems a while back where it wasn't the SBU, it was the SIO. It's the scanner I/O pcb thats between the sbu and the bcu...........
