[Misc] Replacing Proof tray junction gate

Hi there!

I have tried to look after a guide how i can easy change the Proof tray Junction gate, but havent found any soulutions yet.

I dont want do open up the whole thing to just change that little piece of plastic.

Any tip is welcome here!

Unfortunately there is no easy way. You just have to tear the finisher to pieces.

If it is broken in the front try putting a small (4 inch) ty wrap around the broken spot.

That's not a fix, it's a rig job. I just replaced one of these a couple weeks ago, it's not a big deal.

Agreed but I had a school that broke it twice in 2 days. If it gets a jam under it, it is just cheesy enough in the "clip together design", that customer breaks it thinking it is a flap they can move to gain access to jam. I replaced it again but added the tie wrap around the new part to keep the weak end from flexing and breaking. The tie wrap will try to slide off the edge where the 2 flaps join so I had to put a drop of super glue on the tie wrap to keep it from sliding to the side. I agree that a tie wrap is a rig job but the addition of one to new parts has solved a repeat problem for me in a particularly trouble account.

Bottom line is that it is a crap design from bad engineering that is more work than it should be to replace. There was a bulleting that described putting both flaps together outside the machine and installing them as a pair. That does seem to be the best solution.

I didn't know about the bulletin, but that's the only way you can get both pieces back in, as far as I know.

I have never had very much trouble after the first time had to replace one. I have to take off the top cover, one jam removal guide and two metal guide plates. Of course if what is broken is the tip of the pivot pin where the plastic retainer goes, a small self threading screw and a flat washer usually do the trick. Just make sure you have a small enough screw to thread into the hole on the end of the pivot post.
