Try cleaning the scan slit glass with alcohol then water.
It appears like there is built up paper dust on the rec blade in the PCU.

Also, if the pattern changes, give the document feeder paper path a good blast of air from a can. Sometimes a good deal of paper dust and other assorted yuck (that's the technical term for it I think) accumulates in the doc feeder paper path of these older machines, and sometimes it will fall on the ADF glass for a while and cause print defects until it gets knocked off the glass by an original document.

Check that the ARDF is square on the scanner frame. The white metal area on the left (at the bottom of the ardf) needs to seat neatly in the slit glass area at the left of the main scanner glass. If it does not it causes distortion on the copies.

The holders on the machine frame (most of the time the left side one) where the ARDF hinges fit into, crack and cause the ARDF to sit skew on the scanner assembly

I have also seen were people have leaned on the front left side and the frame is a bit twisted causing streaks or lines along the corner. Usually i can put one hand on the output bin and one under the front left corner under the scanner and pull up on the frame with a little, nothing to major just a little to pull that corner back up. You can really tell if you copy a counter sheet and the triangle at the top looks like a fun house mirror image.

clean all the optics. Take of the glass and clean the mirrors below with windex, also wipe off the lamp as well but just with a bit of windex or alochol. Then as said above make sure your slit glass is clean and free from any little marks you might not have seen. And also use rubber cleaner for the paper feed tires to make sure they are not imprinting any dirt either.

If you print out a counter or a config sheet and it looks fine than your pcu is fine, it just seems to be an optics problem.
