    Ricoh 171

Rebuilt the fuser. After a few minutes after boot up it threw a sc320 and I smelled the soul of the bicu board floating away. I checked fuser for any broke or pinched wires. Replaced laser unit and bicu and it blew another bicu immediately. Same component again Q22. Any idea why and any one know what component that it is. I can solder on a new one then pay for another board that some one else fixed. Thanks in advance Matt.

Can I ask what was the outcome of this issue as I have the same fault and a 171.

    Thanks in advance

Yikes! The magic smoke has been released?
The polygon mirror motor in the laser unit is the usual suspect for that error code, but you might want to check the wiring harness between that and the BICU too. Sounds like something got shorted to frame ground.
That machine has been around for a while, after all.

Any chance the cable of the ID sensor is shorted somewhere?

We got a similar symptom on the AF2018/MP2000 when the door loom is shorted against the frame.
