    MP c5502 ARDF

Hi, I have a problem with a MP c5502s This is the only machine I have with a single scan document feeder, so it goes through once and not sucks the paper back in. I have heard these can be trouble but the problem I am getting is that it keeps misfeading when taking the paper into the feed section, the initial pick up section rollers, it seems to leave a kink in the paper and can't get past the feed/separation belt.

I have renewed the tyre and belt and still causes me grief as soon as any paper gone in which is not brand new and completely flat. Has anyone had this and is there something I am missing, its driving me nuts and I have never had this problem before. The rest of the 5502's I have are the smaller ADF's and I have no trouble at all.

Hope you understand all that and thanks.

You say the df kinks the paper.

What happens when you manually try and feed a sheet through the paper path?

A lot of the time something is stuck in the path and replacing rollers and belts don't solve the problem.

      Hi there!
The only problem of the DF 3080 is described in the RTB RD149061a. On the front of the upper guide (pn D6834310) is a nose, which causes problems. You can change the guide, or you cut it of & smooth it with sandpaper or a flexifile.
      Greetings...

There is another TSB i think #16 you might want to review for the single pass doc feed regarding adding some mylars, this likely not your issue but good info.

As far as it jaming under the sep area, one make sure the seperation unit is installed correctly properly in the slots front and rear, also make sure the white clip that keeps the serparation assembly (the black plastic frame around the belt) is all in good order there should be bushings on each side of the plastic where it snaps onto the separation shaft with a large white clip holding the bushing on the front side in position if that is missing the whole assembly will not maintain pressure against the belt and sep roller because it will lift up off the shaft. For testing purposes since the pick up and sep assembly are not attached to the cover you can likely block the cover open sensor with a piece of paper or something and leave the lid open and feed a sheet, see what happens when it gets to the sep area, obviously it will jam beyond that point but you can at least whats happening when the paper enters the belt and sep roller to see if its catching on something.
